History
In 1997, Inter-United Soccer Club (iU) was founded in Apopka, Florida. The club started small with only 50 members. In less than ten years, iU had grown to over 1,000 members. The goal was simple: to provide a positive environment for a growing soccer community. Young athletes quickly advanced in their potential while understanding the value of a team mentality. A strong community was essential to their growth.
In 2004, Inter-United began focusing on international growth and service. Over the last 20 years, we have established lasting relationships in China, Haiti, Peru, Nicaragua, and Kenya. Our international programs include:
organizing international exchanges,
vocational training & small business coaching and support,
access to education in underserved neighborhoods,
and youth camps focused on music, art, and soccer.
In 2019, a team of volunteers from iU traveled to Kenya to begin our next chapter - an after-school program in the Soweto Slums. Our Academy opened its doors to 14 kindergarteners and first graders. After surviving and thriving through the pandemic and serving our families with consistent access to essentials like food and supplies, the Academy expanded into a thriving elementary school.
With a dear local friend, Nelly, working in her passion as our Head of School, iU provides support through service trips, access to technology, facilitating teacher training, and financial aid. Our work continues to this day – providing our growing student body a path, purpose, and hope-filled life.
Our focus – whether internationally or in our home city – is cultivating lasting friendships & equipping our friends to serve their communities well.
Inter-United Soccer Club Corp. (iU) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
