Rafiki — Pen Pals
Rafiki means ‘friend’.
We’ve seen first-hand how impactful lasting friendships are — especially for children facing the daily struggles of poverty.
We believe personal connection with a child you sponsor can not only enrich your relationship, but also build their sense of self-worth.

How to write to Your Sponsored Student:
Create an email to hello@interunited.org.
Please put “Letter to [Child’s name]” in the email subject.
Remember that the student you are corresponding with is young and learning to read/write.
Keep your letter to one simple paragraph.
You can ask them questions for them to respond to in your paragraph and tell them a little about yourself.
You can write the paragraph in the body of the letter. Or you can upload a PDF or JPG of your handwritten letter to send. Please make sure your handwriting is legible!
Feel free to include 2-3 pictures of yourself and your family to share with the student.
We will share your encouragement and words with the students the second week of every month.
Once they have written a letter in response, we will send it to you via email!
