Haiti - Update October 2019
It's been over a year since our last visit to Haiti. Haiti is currently suffering from a gas shortage which is having a number of negative effects on the country.
Along with the gas shortages come protests, demonstrations, and destruction of property both public and private. Some of these events lead to violence which keeps children from attending school, keeps people from going to the market and keeps all forms of transportation from traveling along the major roadways.
All of which is having a huge economic impact on their society. As prices of goods and services increase, the ability for people to get items they desperately need decreases. Through it all, our brother and missionary to Haiti, Ed Lockett, still manages to do God's work in most of the areas in and around Petit Goave. There are many days lately without electricity as well as days of being confined to the house.
God continues to bless Ed and his ministry with safe travels, funds to distribute bags of rice and other needed supplies and the ability to still be a part of the local villages in which he has built relationships.
Unfortunately, our first 3v3 tournament is still on hold as is our next trip. Only God knows when the door will be opened for our return.
Until then, we pray fervently for our Haitian family and friends along with the Haitian government! With its instability and the masses wanting the president to resign, there doesn't seem to be an end to the mess.
It will take God performing a miracle for real change to occur. We miss our Haitian family and friends and long to see them! Please continue to join us in prayer for the people of Haiti!
